STEP BY STEP
Every few years there is a spark in Tehachapi, CA where there are new rumblings of hardcore. The landscape is always changing with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Hardcore doesn’t always seem to be a constant here, but when it comes it always peaks. With the same peaks that brought Diehard Youth and The Warriors came Step By Step.
What initially started in the summer of 2014 was the beginnings of Step By Step. Nick Viterelli and Gregg Fidler started to accumulate songs for a demo. All inspired by early 2000’s Boston Hardcore, songs were written in the summer heat while locked in The Devils Den. With plans to record the songs, constant life changes and moves led to all of these songs being put on the back burner and eventually lost somewhere in an old broken iPhone.
Many years later Nick and Gregg decided to start where they left off. Newly written songs from memories of the first songs would eventually become the demo. Step By Step was initially going to be released upon the world with the possibility of playing a few shows. One thing led to another and Nick and Gregg were then joined by guitarists Jerry Snow and Matt Battaglia and bassist Nate Evans. The demo was recorded and put out in the summer of 2024, and a handful of shows were played.
They followed their Demo up with their “2024 Promo” consisting of three songs used as a teaser for an upcoming LP. With that came joining the Indecision family to bring a “New World View”, out on October 3rd, 2025.
